Sunday Scriptures — Clothe Yourself With Inner Beauty

Isaiahby Sandy Kirby Quandt

The other morning when Pilot and I were at the pool for early morning swimming the lifeguard told me she liked my bathing suit. Well. Receiving that compliment from a 20-something felt good, I’m hear to tell you.

I told her the bathing suit was very old … decades actually … and I was grateful for stretchy material because it still fit. 🙂

We both discussed the colors and pattern which haven’t faded one bit since I bought the suit and agreed it was pretty.

The fact I hold onto clothes so long is an indication I’m not really into buying the latest fashions, but that doesn’t mean I don’t want to look my best. Just ask Pilot. He knows I like to update my wardrobe occasionally as needed. Or whenever whimsy takes over.

The apostle Peter said we shouldn’t worry as much about how we look on the outside as we do about how we look on the inside. Peter said we are to clothe ourselves with an inner beauty that is unfading. It is the beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit. A beauty precious to God.

I really should buy a new bathing suit, I know. (Just in case you’re curious, this suit doesn’t have bloomers, I don’t carry a parasol when I wear it, and it hasn’t gone out of style.) But more importantly than whether my clothes go out of style or not, is the fact I can be sure clothing myself with an inner beauty that is precious to God will definitely never go out of style and will always be a good fit.

What about you? Do you like to buy the latest fashions, or do you like to stick with the clothes you have and update as needed?

You should clothe yourselves instead with the beauty that comes from within, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is so precious to God. 1 Peter 3:4, NLT

I wish you well.

I think inner beauty is the most beautiful and is never out of style. Thanks for reminding us about what is precious and beautiful in God’s sight.
