Seasons Change
By Shirley Specht Johnson

Summer splashes on sandy shores
gentle breeze through screen doors,
baseball games, skipping stones,
riding bikes, ice cream cones.
Seasons change.
Autumn whispers, trees sway,
leaves fall and run away,
family meals, grandma’s pie,
little bird passes by.
Seasons change.
Winter has much to say,
lingering on from day to day,
hot cocoa, ice skates, glistening trees,
quilts, soup, snow to our knees.
Seasons change.
Spring’s greeting is wonderful to see,
how it smiles through flowers and trees,
front porch swings, butterflies,
little birds sing nearby.
How wonderful that seasons change.
