I Don’t Know What You’re Doing, But I Know Who You Are

Craziness. Total Craziness.

Pressure cooker bombs at the Boston Marathon? Seriously?

Random drive-by shootings that slay a sleeping child in her room? Really?

An irate employee goes out to his truck and returns with a gun, and the intent to do massive harm? You’re kidding, right?

In the Old Testament book of Isaiah, words like,

How beautiful on the mountains are the feet of those who bring good news, who proclaim peace, who bring good tidings, who proclaim salvation…(52:7)

are mere verses before

We all, like sheep, have gone astray, each of us has turned to his own way; and the LORD has laid on him (Jesus) the iniquity of us all. (53:6)

Going further we have God’s promise.

Though the mountains be shaken and the hills be removed,

yet my unfailing love for you will not be shaken nor my covenant of peace be removed, says the LORD, who has compassion on you. (54:10)

And God’s truth.

Seek the LORD while you can find him. Call on him now while he is near.

Let the wicked change their ways and banish the very thought of doing wrong. Let them turn to the LORD that he may have mercy on them. Yes, turn to our God, for he will forgive generously. “My thoughts are nothing like your thoughts,” says the LORD. “And my ways are far beyond anything you could imagine. For just as the heavens are higher than the earth, so my ways are higher than your ways and my thoughts higher than your thoughts. (55:6-9)

We shake our heads. We question. We wonder.

We don’t understand.

I wish you well.
